Fibre-Beet Mash

Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash is a low sugar and starch, high fibre conditioning feed that targets overall condition through optimal gut health including; weight gain, topline, muscle tone and function, coat and hoof health.

Highly digestible, Fibre-Beet Mash

As a horse feed, Barastoc Fibre-Beet™ Mash provides all the essential elements for safe conditioning;
  • The benefits of Speedi-Beet, with its high level of easily digested soluble fibre for slow energy release, low sugar and starch content and prebiotic effect.
  • The addition of Lucerne provides quality protein containing essential amino acids for muscle tone and function, supporting recovery of body condition.
  • High quality oat fibre (grain free) is rich in beta-glucans and emulsifiers that have a role in gastric ulcer protection and gut health.
  • Micronised Linseed provides vitamins, trace elements, quality protein as well as Omegas 3, 6 and 9, supporting overall condition.
  • Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash is designed to be fed wet, ideal for senior horses or those that are in poor condition due to dental issues.
  • Added peppermint for palatability.

Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash is a complete feed to help and support all types of horses that require condition, fibre and improved gut health and may be particularly helpful for;

  • Senior horses needing condition and something gentle on their teeth (can also be a roughage replacement to ensure sufficient fibre intake).
  • Horses recovering from surgery
  • Horses with ulcers who are struggling to eat and have lost condition (click here for more information). A symptom of gastric ulcers can be poor body condition / low body condition score. Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash plays a positive role in gut health, supporting those with gastric ulcers, as proven recently with the Royal Veterinary College London. Click here to read the paper.
  • Off the Track horses who have lost weight, have ulcers or in need of general condition

Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash can be fed in larger quantities, making it a superb conditioning feed that’s ideal for horses that require a controlled starch intake (Non Structural Carbohydrates - NSC). In fact, if your horse is in light work, the robust combination of Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash with a balancer and good forage ensures a complete fibre feed for horses.

Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash is a superb low sugar, conditioning fibre feed. It is also an ideal source of highly digestible fibre if you’re short on good quality forage it can be used as a full or partial replacement.

FEEDING FOR WEIGHT GAIN

Start with at least 2kg of Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash (measured dry) daily. Increase or decrease quantities dependent on results. Results can be seen within one week of feeding. Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash horse feed can be fed at up to a maximum daily rate of 1kg (weight before soaking) per 100kg body weight of horse.

FEEDING AS A HAY REPLACER

500g of Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash (measured dry) is approximately equivalent to 1kg of hay. Remember, as Fibre-Beet Mash is a super fibre (it has been shown to improve hindgut fermentation) the horse can absorb up to 25% more nutrients of their overall diet.

If you have no forage, you may substitute your horses forage requirements with Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash as a short-term solution. Consult us directly for specific advice and always measure your Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash dry before soaking.

POST OPERATIVE

Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash is ideal for post- operative surgery. Being a mash and a good fibre source, the additional water intake from the soaked mash helps to stimulate the gastrointestinal system for peristalsis and bowel movement.

HOW TO PREPARE

So easy to prepare!

Add 1 part dry Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash to 3 parts water by weight.

1/2kg of dry Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash would require 1 1/2 litres of water.

You can prepare in advance if you wish, but prepare it with cold water, store in cool conditions and make sure it's consumed within 24 hours of soaking.

All new feeds should be introduced slowly and horse condition should be monitored. Split feeds throughout the day. Always consider good quality mineral/vitamin/trace element supplement (such as Barastoc Groom ).

Fresh water should be available at all times. Ideally there should be free access to forage, but always feed to an individual's requirements.

This product must be soaked before feeding.
